Power in Dirt Initiative

Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake’s Power in Dirt initiative.  Raise your shovels, get set go.

As a resident of Park Heights you are probably aware of the significant amount of vacant lots that exists in the community.  These lots create an unsafe environment for the children and residents by becoming breeding grounds for things like drug dealing, prostitution and vandalism.

However, something can be done to reclaim these lots and make them your own.

Recently the Mayor’s office began the Power in Dirt initiative  which will help Park heights do just that, revitalize these vacant lots.

This initiative helps you take back your community by adopting a vacant lot and making it beautiful, Power in Dirt facilitates the adopting process, identifies key resources , and helps you gain access to cheaper water to maintain your lot.

With your help a vacant lot can become somethign beautiful and useful such as a vegetable garden, or even a meditation spot.

If you have a project for a vacant lot in your area, please contact Maria-Ximena Vasquez, Power in Dirt Coordinator for Park Heights at 410-396-1711.  Lets empower the community one vacant lot at a time.
