The Park Heights Master Plan prescribes redevelopment from the lens of providing human services, educational programming for all ages, job training, improving health disparities, addressing crime, safety and sanitation, in addition to, stabilizing and developing new real estate and affordable housing opportunities. The Pimlico Community Development Authority (PCDA) is an advisory group established by State legislation in 2005 to provide community input on how slots funding is allocated in the Park Heights community.
A total of $34m has been allocated to the Park Heights Master Plan area from FY13 – FY20 from Slots funding. Park Heights Renaissance (PHR) is 1 of 9 recipients of funding over these past 7 fiscal years. Many projects and programs have been funded or leveraged with this funding, to name a few: renovations at CC Jackson Recreation Center, homeowner repair grants, human services programming, developer incentives, art projects, and pre-development work for site assemblage of over 60 acres of land for the purpose of redevelopment.
Typically, the PCDA develops a multi-year plan, leads the process for public comments and review, and makes final recommendations to the Mayor on each year’s spending plan. The Mayor may make modifications, if applicable, and the funding from Slots revenue is adopted in the City budget. The PCDA is responsible for compiling and tracking progress on the Slots funding. All spending plans and quarterly reports are posted on their website for public access and review.
