Housing is a Human Right
Park Heights Renaissance (PHR) is a non-profit, 501c3community development corporation that was established in 2007 to:
- Effectively manage the components of the Park Heights Master Plan related to housing, economic development, and human services
- Serve as a positive and effective bridge and communication link between and among community residents, elected officials, other stakeholders, investors, and the City.
- Conduct monitoring and evaluation of all implementation activities.
At 1,500 acres, the Park Heights Master Plan area is the largest redevelopment effort in Maryland’s history. Our boundaries are Northern Parkway to the North, Greenspring Avenue to the East, Wabash Avenue to the West and Druid Park Drive to the South.
Housing Development Projects
PHR works collaboratively with residents, public and private partners to facilitate development of successful and sustainable housing solutions for renters and homeowners alike with the goal of creating community where people want to live, work, play, and stay. Below are some of the housing development projects that PHR has initiated, supported, and/or co-developed over the years:
- Cold Spring Lane: 163 one, two, and three-bedroom affordable units in a transportation-oriented intergenerational multi-family development. Groundbreaking was Fall 2022. Completion is projected for Summer 2024.
- Renaissance Row: 84 one, two, and three bedroom affordable older-adult units. Completed Winter 2021.
- National Housing Partnership (NHP) Project: 17 acres of vacant land in the Park Heights MRA (Major Redevelopment Area) will be developed into 288 units of mixed-income, multi-family rental units and single-family homeownership units. Groundbreaking is anticipated for Summer 2023.
- Woodland Gardens II (In partnership with CHAI: Comprehensive Housing Assistance, Inc.): 75 affordable senior units, projected to complete in June 2023
- Woodland Gardens I (In partnership with CHAI: Comprehensive Housing Assistance, Inc.): 63 affordable senior units, currently under construction. Groundbreaking was May 8, 2023.
