Park Heights Renaissance will host the 2nd Annual George “Spider” Anderson Preakness Music and Arts Festival. The celebration of George “Spider” Anderson, 1st African American jockey to win the Preakness in 1886 is the official kickoff for the week of Preakness Stakes festivities.  Open for the entire family. Lawn chairs and blankets welcomed!

The Festival will feature:

  • Educational exhibits complete with a presentation on the history of African Americans and horses and the horse racing industry, a display of artifacts from the Buffalo Soldiers
  • FREE pony rides and basic horsemanship training. This exhibit was created in partnership with Park Heights Renaissance and City Ranch, Inc., and is being sponsored by The NHP Foundation
  • Live Music
  • Food Trucks
  • Community & City Resources Village
  • Health and Wellness Village
  • 30 Retail Vendors (arts, jewelry, fashion and more)

This is the Park Heights community’s celebration of the Preakness. In its secondyear, the goal of the festival is bringing Baltimoreans from across the city and all walks of life to Park Heights for an old-fashioned festival that highlights Baltimore’s rich cultural diversity.
