Park Heights Renaissance proudly presents the 5th Annual George “Spider” Anderson Music & Arts Festival on Saturday, May 16, taking place at the 4800 block of Park Heights Avenue.
This is a free festival, celebrating culture, community and legacy, honoring George “Spider” Anderson — the first Black jockey to win the Preakness in 1889 — and uplifting the rich history of Black horsemen in American racing. We are proud to be the Official Community Partner for Preakness 151!
💚 SHOWING UP FOR THE COMMUNITY
We typically hold the Spider Anderson Festival the week before Preakness weekend as a lead up to the festivities, but as construction continues at Pimlico, Preakness will take place in Laurel this year.
This year’s “Preakness in Park Heights” theme invites guests to dress like they’re going to the races — because they are! Best-dressed attendees will win their share of $5,000 in prizes. We also welcome headliners Hip-Hop legend Big Daddy Kane and R&B Powerhouse K. Michelle, local artists, vendors, food, horseback rides, family activities, and more, all while keeping culture, commerce, and community at the center.
There will be something for the whole family to enjoy — star entertainment, horseback rides, carnival games, food trucks, vendors, and a kids’ zone, all right here in the neighborhood.
