Park Heights Renaissance recently brought neighborhood leaders together with Baltimore Tree Trust for our Neighborhood Beautification Session, focused on Neighborhood Improvement Plans, beautification, and creating greener, healthier communities throughout Park Heights.
Baltimore Tree Trust is a nonprofit organization working to increase Baltimore’s urban tree canopy, particularly in neighborhoods with fewer trees. Through tree planting, maintenance, community education, and urban forestry initiatives, the organization helps communities address the effects of extreme heat, improve air quality, and create healthier, greener spaces. During the session, neighborhood leaders discussed what is working in their communities, identified current challenges and needs, and explored how PHR can continue supporting their Neighborhood Improvement Plans and beautification priorities.
Baltimore Tree Trust also provided a hands-on demonstration on how to properly plant and care for trees, including watering, mulching, maintenance, and ongoing stewardship. Leaders were also guided through how to apply for Baltimore Tree Trust’s program to bring additional trees into their neighborhoods, giving them another resource to help advance local greening and beautification priorities.
This work directly supports PHR’s Community Leadership & Advocacy Council, which centers resident and neighborhood leadership in decisions that shape the future of Park Heights. By bringing neighborhood association leaders together, connecting them with resources, and creating space to identify priorities and challenges, PHR is helping ensure that resident voice remains at the core of neighborhood improvement efforts.
What’s Next
The work is already moving forward. Tree planting in Park Circle and Pimlico Terrace is scheduled to begin in November, putting this partnership and the priorities identified by neighborhood leaders into action.
PHR looks forward to continuing to work alongside Baltimore Tree Trust, neighborhood leaders, and residents to strengthen local leadership and make Park Heights greener, healthier, and more beautiful one block at a time.
