Young Park Heights residents and their families recently joined Maryland First Lady Dawn Moore for Reading Is Freedom at the Baltimore Book Festival, where children had the opportunity to enjoy books, connect with community and experience reading in an engaging and memorable way.
First Lady Moore read with young participants and celebrated the importance of helping children develop a lifelong love of reading. Experiences like these remind young people that literacy extends beyond the classroom. Books can inspire imagination, build confidence and create new opportunities for children to learn about themselves and the world around them.
At Park Heights Renaissance, supporting children and families is an important part of our collective impact work. Through our HIPPY program and Education/Out-of-School Time Network, PHR works with families, schools and community partners to strengthen early learning and expand educational opportunities for Park Heights youth.
We extend a special thank you to First Lady Dawn Moore, Emerson Collective, the Baltimore Book Festival and the partners who helped make this experience possible and invited Park Heights families to be part of this special event.
